New Medium - Copic Markers

I am rather excited about these markers.  I ran across Copic Markers on Instagram and wanted to try them out.  Being markers I wasn't sure what to expect with this medium, but they are really impressive as an art tool.  (I do believe you can use just about anything to create)  Of course now I want more of them to create different sketches in my journal.

Spring in Michigan

I flew home to Michigan for some health reasons.  I am so lucky with the time of year, everything is so green and in full bloom.  It was truly breathtaking.  I guess I brought the sun with me.

Blueberries

Being a true Michigander I was spoiled with being able to go to orchards and fields to get incredible fresh fruit.  I have talked about my Grandpa's blueberry farm before and the beauty of the rows upon rows of beautiful bushes full of berries.  Maybe its the colors or the reminders of home, but I just love painting a little piece of Michigan.

In my garden

I constantly try to keep my garden looking ....the word escapes me.  My garden is a challenge to control and keep alive in this Texas heat.  I am not use to the growing seasons and watering can be tricky.  Thankfully there are these plants called succulents that are happier if you forget about them and leave them alone.  I should have a garden all of succulents...I clearly did not inherit my families green thumbs.

Anna Maria Island, FL

Anna Maria Island sits just off the coast of Florida on the Gulf side.  It is this cute classic island town with fun little shops, brightly painted buildings, and of course beaches that you could walk for miles.  I would like to say it is also where a lot of Michiganders go in the winter as I saw many familiar license plates.  I was lucky to go visit this little spot in the world and help paint a condo, which of course is why I was there...it was a lot of work.  I was lucky however and got to spend some time with my great aunt and uncle and enjoy a few sunsets on breaks.  When I got back I had to paint an orange and I think I will have to paint one of those gorgeous sunsets I saw.  Oh how I love the water.

Seattle

I was very lucky to go visit a friend in Seattle over the weekend.  Becca is a college friend of mine that now works for Boeing in Seattle.  We had a lot of fun exploring her city, drinking coffee, seeing pretty glass, and going into the snowy mountains.

Christmas at Home

I love going home for the Holidays.  I love traditions and family and that means I have to go home for Christmas.  It never feels like Christmas time until I am boarding a plane heading North.  There will be snow and mistletoe, and presents under the tree...this year was wonderful and hard to leave my family.  They say home is where the heart is and my heart will be forever there.  My tree is still up in Texas even though it is January 8, but for some reason it is hard to take down this year.  I'll give it a few more days, I'm in no rush, there is no rush.

Family Tree

I got to paint a piece for a family that is expecting a baby, I hope this will be a reminder of this special time in their lives adding on to their family and creating a loving home.

Welcome Aboard

I have lived in Texas for over two years now and finally feel settled here knowing the area.  I have met some wonderful people here and now we are talking about moving to the next location, crazy how times flys.  I have painted a few things this year for our spouses club including this piece for a logo.

Berries, Berries, and More Berries

I love painting a little bit of my roots.

Owls

So did a little something different, not really in my comfort zone.... I painted some owls for a squadron here in Corpus.

Blessings

Babies get the best things.  My friend had a great idea to put together a gift for her new nephew Noah's baptism.  I love that she sent me a picture of it framed.

Lions and Elephants and Bears...oh my!

I have a new little fan.  I love when I get to paint things for children nurseries.  These pieces are now hanging in my friends baby's nursery.
